Wireless technologies, IoT

Capitalise on low hanging fruit to identify a ballpark value added activity to beta test. Override the digital divide with additional clickthroughs.

Our company focuses in the development and implementation of the wireless industrial systems and control networks. Frequency bands which are commonly used in our and client solutions are:

  • 169 MHz
  • 433/434 MHz
  • 868 MHz

Our effort is to a provide solution, which will offer best ratio between functionality and price of a whole system. The main criteria are wireless range together with reliability of the chosen technology. Based on these requirements we will choose suitable technology. Afterwards, this technology and system is installed in the pilot real environment. We support the clients also during large series manufacturing.

Topologies, which are commonly used in our installation are:

  • Point to point, Multidrop
  • Mesh networks with multi-hop support
  • Device to Cloud, IoT

Technologies and standards which we offer are:

  • Serial proprietary protocols designed based on specific clients requirements
  • Sigfox, IoT
  • Wireless MBUS, Wireless KNX

Radio parameters and output power are adjusted based on the specific client needs. We are offering lower radio powers with a higher data rate in the case of a smaller installation or installation with Mesh network support. Outdoor installations or in the places with problematic environment, we are implementing technologies with output power up to 1000 mW. Indicative range of the point-to-point (Line-of-Sight) are from 800 m in the case of low power devices up to 20 km in the case of systems based on NBIoT (Narrow Band IoT) or high power Wireless MBUS modules.

Widely used technologies among our customers are MESH (Tinymesh) networks in the frequency band of 868 MHz with radio power from 10 dBm up to 27 dBm. Number of elements are from single units up to installation with several tenths of elements. Typical examples are street lights, high voltage pylons monitoring or industrial regulation or measurement. Basic parts of these networks are:

  • Concentrator, host system (connection with the system of the client RS232, RS485, Ethernet, Wi-Fi)
  • Control element (digital output/input, actuator, light…)
  • Sensor (temperature, humidity, pressure, voltage, current, power, consumption, CO2…)

Master device (concentrator) implements protocols based on the customer specific needs. Typical protocols are MODBUS/RTU (RS232/RS485) or MODBUS/TCP (Ethernet, Wi-Fi) and proprietary client protocols over the mentioned physical layers

Sensor modules are designed with emphasis to the low power consumption operation. Typical lifetime is a couple of years based on the used battery.

IoT, Internet of things

Company Embedded Electronics & Solutions, s.r.o. also offers implementation of the systems based on the Device to cloud technology. The basic principal of the IoT is in the implementation of the variety of sensors and end units, which communicates with the host system with theoretical unlimited range. These systems are nowadays based on the GSM/3G/4G networks. These classic devices are relatively costly parts of this solution mainly due to SIM card operation and high fees of the cell operator.

Devices working with SigFox technology communicates in almost any place in the central and west Europe without SIM card and connection to the classical cell operator. This solution becomes much more cost effective and offers higher battery lifetime comparing with the GSM solution.

Embedded Electronics & Solutions, s.r.o. offers development of the Sigfox IoT device based on the particular customer specification. In the industrial segment we can offer temperature sensors, impulse meter output counter, sensors of the immediate position etc. We also support our client with management of these elements through the cloud services of the SIGFOX operator.
